FAYETTE COUNTY 2017 SPLOST REFERENDUM
Special Election March 21, 2017 (Early Voting Begins February 27!)

Contributed by Derryll Anderson, Chair, Elections, Appointments, and Voting Committee

Voters will have an opportunity to vote on Fayette County’s SPLOST from February 27th through March 21, 2017. The SPLOST is a countywide, one-cent, voter-approved, “Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.”

Local governments can use this tax to fund specific capital projects. The proposed 2017 SPLOST would be in place for six years. Fayette County and its municipalities of Peachtree City, Fayetteville, Tyrone and Brooks have developed a list of critical and necessary projects that will preserve our safety, quality of life, roads and infrastructure. For a complete list of projects, visit http://www.fayettecountyga.gov/SPLOST-2017.htm OR  www.voteyes4fayette.com

If the SPLOST is approved, the Fayette county and its municipalities — Fayetteville, Peachtree City, Tyrone, Brooks and Woolsey – would divide the proceeds to fund specific projects already prioritized by the respective governing bodies. The county would get approximately $64.6 million, Peachtree City $45.5 million, Fayetteville $21 million, Tyrone $9 million and Brooks just under $700,000.

Former Georgia House of Representatives Virgil Fludd (D), and Matt Ramsey (R) co-chair the “Vote Yes 4 Fayette” Committee to pass the SPLOST. They are asking all citizens to:

  • Vote “YES” for the March 21, 2017 SPLOST.
  • Vote “YES” for safety, quality of life, roads and infrastructure.
  • Vote “YES” for Fayette County!”
