President Biden Declares June as the Official LGBTQ+/PRIDE Month

Unofficially celebrated in October because of traditional Pride Parades, and Oct 11th coming out day, June has become the official LGBTQ / Pride month. The original organizers chose this month to pay homage to the Stonewall uprising (https://www.cnn.com/2016/06/16/us/gallery/tbt-first-pride-parades/index.html) in June 1969 in New York City, which helped spark the modern gay rights movement.

President Joe Biden recently issued an official proclamation declaring June 2021 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Pride Month. “I call upon the people of the United States to recognize the achievements of the LGBTQ+ community,” said Biden, “to celebrate the great diversity of the American people, and to wave their flags of pride high.” June
